What is the mechanical power-off auto-open technology?
The mechanical power-off auto-open technology is an advanced technology developed by CMOLO in turnstile industry. By adopting the unique mechanism structure design, pedestrian turnstiles can automatically open without UPS power supply and with power failure, simply based on the pure mechanical structure.
In order to meet the fire safety requirements, the speed gate turnstile normally should open automatically in the event of power failure. It makes it easier to evacuate people in case of emergency.
Traditional Solution
The traditional solution is to install small backup UPS (uninterruptable power supply) inside the access control turnstile. When power failure, the UPS will supply electricity to the main control board and the relay will provide emergency opening signal to turnstile gate, so as to make the turnstile open automatically. The method is with simple mechanical structure, and easily to operate, so it is widely used in turnstile industry.
Shortcomings for traditional solution
This method's operation depends on the reliability of the relay, UPS, and the control circuits. Small backup UPS is usually made up by lead acid batteries and control circuit. Lead acid battery has a very short service life, and it has high risks of leakage and abnormalities of charging and discharging, and the control circuit of UPS power may be unnormal, which is unfavorable for environment protection. These shortcomings will affect the stability of the turnstile's auto-open function when power failure. If the turnstile's auto-open function is abnormal when power failure, it is likely to threaten the personal safety of users in the emergency.
How does CMOLO solve it?
CMOLO adopts pure mechanical structure, to achieve the auto-open function when power failure.
